Panchase Trek

Trip Facts

This is a fantastic short little trek. The major treks in this region, the Annapurnas, certainly overshadowing it! Located near Pokhara, it remains relatively unknown except to local pilgrims. Reaching an altitude of just over 2,500 meters, this short and easy trek offers a wonderful escape through stunning landscapes.

It's ideal for those wanting to discover the mountains of Nepal in a short amount of time. It offers the opportunity to explore not only high peaks like the Annapurnas, Dhaulagiri, and Manaslu, but also the subtropical forest and the magnificent Pokhara Lake.

As it's primarily frequented by pilgrims, it remains off the beaten track, allowing you to experience nature and the way of life of Nepalese people in small villages, far removed from the comfort of the teahouses found on typical treks. You can still see cow milking, rice cultivation, harvesting, watermills, etc. This trek is perfect for lovers of simple country life amidst magnificent landscapes.

Ghachok, also known as Thuche, is a village on the direct route to the Machhapuchhare trek. It's a quiet village and a popular stop for trekkers in this region. Thanks to the availability of homestays, trekkers have a choice of two dozen houses for dinner and overnight accommodation. This village is typical of the Annapurna region.

We leave Ghachok on a road that descends gently for over an hour, then we board a 4x4 or a bus, heading towards Pokhara. The road is rough for about an hour but then improves, winding through hills, streams, rivers, forests, and picturesque villages. After lunch in Pokhara, we continue our journey for less than two hours to Bandipur, a pretty hillside town that, at first glance, resembles Kathmandu (KTM) somewhat due to the design of its houses and temples.
