    In this trek to Lake Gosainkunda organized by Happy Yeti Adventure, you will travel inside the beautiful Langtang National Park north of Kathmandu Valley. This two-week program is a combination of immersive natural trek and a tea-house hopping that is beautiful and unique in all of Nepal. You’ll see crystal-clear views of mountains, and also enjoy wonderful vistas of glacial lakes and valleys. One of the memorable things you’ll have from this trek is a picture of unspoiled nature that inspires you even at some of the far-flung destination on Earth.

    Langtang is home to Red Panda and more than 300 species of butterflies. Musk Deer and Himalayan Black Bear are also the native species here. If you smell a strong beautiful scent along the trail, it’s probably from a musk deer. More than six species of rhododendron are found in this trail - that is scenic beyond description. The friendly people and villages you’ll encounter along the way, will remind you of a unique lifestyle at the hills of Nepal. Happy Yeti Adventure invites you to this moderately challenging trek starting from Kathmandu and taking you through incredible landscapes of Helambu, Langtang, and Gosainkunda. Pass through gushing rivers and stay at quaint monasteries and even climb a peak in this best-value trek in Nepal.

    Langtang is one of the top trekking areas of Nepal and is located north of the Kathmandu valley. It is there that the first national park was created in 1976 not far from Kathmandu to protect its wilderness and its Tamang population.

    The routes of Langtang cross magnificent forests of oaks and rhododendrons and offer views of mountains of 7000m or higher as well as the sacred lakes of Gosaïkund. A highlight of this trek is the ascent of Cherko Ri, a peak of 5000m.

    Helambu Gosaikunda Lantang Trek Itinerary

    As soon as you land at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our staff and representative will pick you up and transfer to your hotel. You can spend the day in briefing about the trip and enjoy the evening in Kathmandu. Stay overnight at a  hotel.

    The drive from Kathmandu to Tarke Ghyang takes around eight hours with stopovers. The winding road crosses through hills and rivers with wonderful views of the peaks if the weather is clear. You will reach Tarke Ghyang late in the evening and check into a lodge for the overnight stay.
     Night at Lodge. 1100m -23m

    Start after breakfast by ascending along the trail. Take a little break for photography and then continue the journey through a beautiful forest until you arrive at a village. Enjoy good views of snow-capped peaks above and hills down below. Trek further down the valley lined with a couple of streams and then ascend to a clearing. Continue further through quaint villages you arrive at Melanche Gaun where you’ll stay tonight.

    Walk: 6h 30min, Night at Lodge. +780m -300m

    Today we will be trekking for seven hours. Start after a leisurely breakfast and head towards the village of Tharepati. At first ascend through bushes of rhododendron until you arrive at a hamlet. Take a little break here and enjoy the environment. On a clear day you can have beautiful views of Mt. Langtang, too. Continue the trek further to arrive at Tharepati for the night.

    Walk: 6h, Night at Lodge. +803m -741m

    The trek today is around six hours. Start after breakfast from Tharepati and descend through the hills. In proper season, the forests of rhododendron will be in full bloom. In a sea of red and crimson hues, trek along the scenic forest until you come to the bottom of a valley. This is the village of Phedi. Unpack and stay at Phedi for the night.

    Walk: 4h, Night at Lodge. +1100-300

    It’s a challenging day of trek today. You will first come to the pass of Lauri Binayak (or Laurebina as it is sometimes misspelt). At this pass you will enjoy scenic views of the panorama on either side. Both are equally stunning. Take some photos here and continue the uphill trek. First you will see the vegetation thinning and then you’ll being to see the actual snowline. A couple of hours of trek will bring you to Lake Gosainkunda, a high-altitude glacial lake revered by Hindus and Buddhists. Each August during full moon, people come here to take a dip in these holy waters. See around the lake and for tonight, we will stay in a camp or a tea house 
    Walk: 4h 30min, Night at Lodge. +770m -650m

    Explore around the lake in the morning and then begin the descent to Thulu Syabru. We will be trekking mostly along the descending trail crossing forests and hills. Here and there, we will cross villages with farmlands and sheds. The views of Gosainkunda and other lakes will be memorable and inspiring for the rest of the day. Coming down to the village of Thulo Syabru, we will hop into a lodge for the overnight stay.
    Walk: 7h, Gosaikunda pass (4380m)–and Gosaikunda Lac Night at Lodge +932m -722m

    Beginning from Thulo Syabru, you will head through a snaking trail that ascends through the hills. Shortly, the trails descends to a gorge - your entry into Langtang Valley. The bamboo forest will provide a nice walking experience where you might see the red pandas and monkeys too. You will trek through the raging river and arrive at Pahiro and then to village of Bamboo. Take a break further and come to the village of Rimche from where you will do a little ascent through a dense forest and later come out to Lama Hotel. Stay overnight in this pristine location.

    Leaving behind Lama Hotel, we will head towards Langtang Valley today. Trekking through the forest, you might have a peek or two of Mt. Langtang Lirung. Cross a waterfall and trek along Langtang Khola up to the hamlet of Gumnchok. After a break here, we will trek to Ghoda Tabela and officially enter Langtang National Park. Cross a bridge, trek through the forest, and before you know it, you have arrived at Langtang Valley. You might want to check around the village and even try some yak-yoghurt. Stay overnight at Langtang Valley.

    After breakfast, we will continue up the valley to reach Kyanjin Gompa. This popular village is marked by a monastery and also a yak cheese factory nearby. As we come near Kyanjin Gompa, we will come to a series of mani walls - with prominent views of Mt. Dorje Lhakpa and other peaks. Take a steep climb and come to Kyanjin Gompa where you will stay for the night.

    Technically, you are taking a day off in Kyanjin Gompa, but the ensuing hike for the sake of acclimatization will take you to Tsergo-Ri, a peak that offers great views of Langtang Mountain Range. Start after an early breakfast and head on a leisurely trek. As you leave the valley below, you will have wonderful views of the Langtang Glacier and surrounding peaks. Once at Tsergo-Ri, you will relax in the beauty and later come down to Kyanjin Gompa for the night.
    Walk: 3h, Night at Lodge. +430m -17m

    After a leisurely morning in Kyanjin Gompa, it’s time to return. You will first come down from the valley and on the way, have good scenes of the valleys that you missed on your way up earlier. Late in the afternoon, you’ll arrive at Lama Hotel where you’ll stay tonight.
    Walk: 7h, Explore to Tsergori(4984m) 1141m -1141m

    After breakfast, we begin the trek from Lama Hotel continuing down the valley and then crossing the gushing River Langtang. Take some pictures here and trek down to the village of Bamboo. Here you’ll some typical houses and terraced farmlands. After a second break in Bamboo, you’ll trek down to Syabru Bensi where you’ll check into a hotel for the night.

    Following an early breakfast, we will catch a bus from Syabru Bensi head for Kathmandu. After the seven-hour drive along the hilly roads, you will arrive at Kathmandu. Check into a hotel where you’ll stay overnight.

    For a free day in Kathmandu, we recommend going on a sightseeing tour of Kathmandu. Starting after breakfast, you will go to a few of the World Heritage Sites - Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Bhaktapur Durbar Square, and Bauddhanath. You will have lunch probably at a rooftop restaurant in Bhaktapur Durbar Square - overlooking old temples and the busy square below. Later, return to hotel and spend the rest of the day shopping or as you see fit.
